Description
This trio of windows is in the historic First Congregational Church in Jackson, Michigan. The style of the unusual windows is called grisaille. Designs are stenciled on clear, diamond-shaped glass and baked in a kiln. This style started in England in the 1200's and was used up to the 1870's. I took this photo in the early spring, before the trees had leafed out, so the reflections of the bare branches creates another layer of patterns.
