Description
According to legend, Gambrinus was Flemish king Flanders and the patron saint of beer or beer brewing. This fine architectural cartouche, which features King Gambrinus holding out a beer stein as if in toast to passers-by and the words Gund and La Crosse, is on the Gund building in downtown Plattsmouth, Nebraska. The building, built around 1900 in the Neo-Classical Revival style, was originally a tavern.
