Description
This architectural detail of a ladder laid next to the chimney and up the peaked, shingled roof of the Maison Doucet in Rustico on Prince Edward Island has a minimalistic appeal. The strong textures and patterns of the siding, shingles, and chimney bricks add interest to the simple subject and design elements. In architecture, La Maison Doucet is an example of vernacular construction; the house was built in 1772 by Acadians returning to or rebuilding on PEI after their deportation in 1758.
