"Ahhhh, lovely water!" this recently misted, young northern velvet gecko seems to be saying as it extends its tongue to lick a droplet that is clinging to its nose. This particular Australian lizard, native to Queensland, is an amelanistic Oedura castelnaui. Its very light coloration is due to amelanism, a hereditary condition which affects the body's ability to produce melanins (dark pigments).
