Description
Up and over! This little gecko clearly likes to climb and explore. It prefers rocks, but here it scrambles over a piece of wood that is just as irregular and roughly textured. I believe this is a thick-tailed gecko (Nephrurus milii) but I also found that these lizards are often called knob-tailed geckos; the alternate spelling of the species (Nepherus) was also common as was a reference to their having at one time been re-classified as Underwoodisaurus milii -- take your pick! Knob-tailed geckos vary widely in their coloration from dark brown (normal) to tan (hypo) to this golden orange or light pink base with white spotting (ultra-light or super-hypo). That's a bit of shed skin by its left eye.
