Description
The flowers in this natural still life are anemone Canadensis or Canada anemone, commonly known as windflowers. Here a trio of open blossoms and two buds stand out against a dark green background of softly blurred foliage. These North American flowers bloom in the late spring and early summer. The plant prefers moist, well-drained soil and some shade, but is quite hardy and can tolerate full sun if it's not too hot. It spreads mostly by underground rhizomes, but can also be propagated with its seeds. Its stalks are quite slender and it sways easily in the slightest breeze; besides windflower, these plants are also called meadow anemone, thimbleweed, and crowfoot.
