Description
This pretty little wildflower, a wood or Celandine poppy (Stylophorum diphyllum), is native to the eastern United states and Canada. It grows in moist, shaded areas - woodlands or forests. Its sap is yellowish orange and stains; Native Americans used it as dye. This specimen was blooming in a wetland woods in eastern Nebraska in the spring.
