Description
Feral cats had pretty much taken over the premises of this old church when I visited in 2012. Here you see two of them, watching over their territory warily and warning me not to come any closer. Built in 1896, the building is now abandoned and has been for many years; however, the graceful Gothic arch over the door still speaks to its former simple beauty.
The history of the building is a bit hard to sort out. I think it was built in 1896 as a Methodist church. In 1922, Liberty Baptist Church bought it. Located in Fremont County in western Iowa, it is variously known as the Old Methodist Church, the Old Knox church, and the Liberty Baptist Church.
