Description
Because of its lovely rose, copper, and brown tones, "Dance the Night Away" is my best guess for this showy iris cultivar with the yellow-gold beard. Bearded iris, also called German Iris (Iris germanica) bloom in the late spring. They love the sun and tolerate all kinds of soil from clay to loam to sand. Each flower has six petals, three upright and three hanging down. These plants have underground stems called rhizomes that store their food. The rhizomes are susceptible to rot and require excellent drainage; for this reason, it's a good idea to grow iris in raised beds.
