The interior of the dome of the Iowa state capitol building in Des Moines is beautifully and intricately detailed. Its quiet earth tones - brown, gold, sage green - and symmetry seem to make it easier for the visitor to appreciate the beauty of the multiple layers as they do not compete with the elaborate designs.
