Image is a solitary dragonfly perched momentarily on a stalk and isolated against a golden textured background. The long slender leaves of a water plant frame the image on the left.
I believe this is a blue dasher dragonfly (Pachydiplax longipennis), a member of the skimmer family. The males are much more colorful than the females.
