Description
The Southern or double-wattled cassowary is a large, flightless bird native to New Guinea and northeastern Australia where it is an endangered species. Their bodies are covered in coarse, black feathers which really look quite elegant. Aside from their striking blue and turquoise heads and the bright red wattle, their predominant feature is a horn-like crest or casque on the head.
