Description
This pretty flower is a tulip tree (Iriodendron) blossom. The tree is also called a tulip poplar though it is more closely retated to the magnolia than the poplar. They grow in eastern North America; I took this photo in eastern Missouri in May. The pretty yellow color of the petals and the lovely greens of the leaves are very striking against the black background.
