Artist's Description
Four trees, three almost grouped and one a bit apart from the others, stand alone on this uncultivated hillside in the Palouse region of eastern Washington. As can be seen from the lush greens of the fields beyond and even the narrow, tilled but unplanted strip across the top, a scene like this is relatively rare in an area where the soil is fertile and the rainfall ample for farming.
