Description
As part of the RiverFront development, in 2019 the Gene Leahy mall near the Old Market in Omaha, Nebraska, was closed for a complete make-over. This downtown green space, located between Douglas and Farnam streets and stretching east to west from 8th to 13 streets, is the result, as seen on a beautiful summer day. In the background you can see a number of the locally well-known buildings of downtown: from right to left are the Omaha World Herald building, the First national Bank tower (tallest), the Woodmen Tower (center, back), and the Central Park Plaza complex (orange, on angles to one another). In the foreground is the west end of a large reflecting pool, backed by a series of step fountains that lead to the midfield. The rounded structure in the center is a performance pavilion, an open amphitheater for outdoor concerts and other events.
