This little green heron, Butorides virenscens, was difficult to spot as it's coloring is perfect for the wetlands areas it favors. This one was hunting at the edge of the water at Walnut Creek Recreational area near Papillion, Nebraska. Had it not been for the low afternoon hitting its breast, I'd probably have missed it.
