These two trees look to me as if they are holding hands and growing old together. I found them one late winter day on the shore of Lake Manawa near Council Bluffs, Iowa. But they could as easily have been on the shore of any lake, pond or even slow-moving river. The ice was receding but you can still see the shelf of it near the bank. I enjoyed trying to compose a naturally mirrored and symmetrical image with just enough differences to add interest and keep it from becoming predictable; to enhance the symmetry, I gave the photo a slightly painted look.
