A gentle breeze lifts a simple handmade curtain and gives us a glimpse of the interior of a barracks room at Fort Atkinson, a frontier military fort in Fort Calhoun, Nebraska. We can see the log cabin structure of the fort, a simple table and chairs, a bit of a set of bunk beds, and a narrow slot window designed to protect soldiers who could shoot through it with their rifles. Active from 1820-1829 only, the reconstructed fort is a Nebraska state historical park and a National Historic Landmark.

I use my camera to explore the world around me and as a basis for creative expression.
