Description
It's hard to beat the colors of a blue sky, a light covering of snow on a harvested corn field, and a red barn for eye appeal. This farm structure is properly called a loafing shed. Covered on the three sides from which the winter wind is most likely to blow, it's open on the 4th so that the livestock can shelter as they wish. This particular building was taken down several years ago to make room for a new home for the land owner / farmer. In his family for generations, much thought went into the decision . . . and as it was dismantled, the siding was salvaged to be used for picture frames and other household objects to preserve memories for both the immediate and extended family. It was located in Sarpy County, Nebraska.
