Description
Rows of white marble markers reach to the trees at the back of the Normandy American Memorial Cemetery and, seemingly, beyond. The crosses and occasional stars of David mark the graves of American soldiers who died in World War II, mostly in the days immediately following the D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944. There is something particularly poignant in the sameness of the markers - no one is more nor less important than his brother and comrade in arms.
