Description
This is the view of Notre Dame de Paris from the east with the Fountain of the Virgin in the foreground. The fountain is located in the Square Jean XXIII. While the Gothic architecture of the cathedral itself dates from the Middle Ages (it was built between 1160 and 1260 B.C.), the fountain and its sculpture of the Virgin Mary dates from 1845. The fire of April 15, 2019, destroyed the wooden spire that you see on the left (the highest structure in the photo) as well as the roof below it.
