Description
This well camouflaged frog, often found on the forest floor almost buried in the leaf litter, is sometimes called the Pac Man frog. When I researched the Surinam horned frog (Ceratophrys cornuta), I found it described variously as large, bulky, and rotund and as having a voracious appetite. Apparently it will eat just about anything it can squeeze into its mouths which accounts for the nickname in the pet store trade. This particular specimen is a male; females are brown and beige.
