Description
The Pujada de Sant Domenec (also Domenech) is located in Girona (Gerona), a beautiful town in Catalonia that dates from the Middle Ages. "Pujada" means "climb" in Catalan, and here apparently refers to the steps. I believe the beautiful building of which this arch is a part is the Palau dels Agullana. The stairs leading out of the frame on the right are much wider. Called the Pujada Sant Marti, they lead to the ancient church of the convent of St. Martin. Researching this location was very difficult as almost all the information I could find was in Catalan which is quite different from Spanish or French, both of which I can read. Because this area was a location for the scene in which Arya was chased by the waif in Game of Thrones, Season 6, much of the information that I could read was related to the plot of that show and not to the incredible Medieval architecture.
Photo was lightly painted digitally to enhance the stonework and tones.
