Description
A lovely and delicate cabbage white sulphur butterfly (Pieris brassicae) lights for an instant on a stalk of blue vervain (Verbena hastata). Both the lighty butterfly and the stately wildflower are common in the prairies and plains of the Midwest. I took this photo at the DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge which lies in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa.
