Description
Three trumpeter swans (Cygnus buccinator) swim in the wetlands of the Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge (previously the Squaw Creek NWR) as they migrate through northwestern Missouri. Swans often mate for life. If you see one, its mate is usually not far away; it is not unusual to see both adults and a cygnet (young swan) together, as is the case here. Because the light was behind these beautiful birds, they were almost silhouettes in my photo; I decided to capitalize on that in the processing.
