The wild turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) is an adept forager and rolls of straw or hay at the edge of a field offer the opportunity for a feast. We came upon this flock of nearly two dozen birds in the country in northwestern Nebraska. They were quite undisturbed by our car, so I used it as a blind. To help make the turkeys stand out, I applied a painted look to all but the birds in this photo.
