Description
Bald eagles ((Haliaeetus leucocephalus) migrate through the Midwest annually, stopping for a number of weeks at various local lakes. This pair was perched high in a tree at Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge near Mound City, Missouri. While the raptor's preferred diet is fish (of which there are an abundance in the pools at the NWR), as a bird of prey it apparently also appreciates the easy pickings the snow geese (migrating through at the same time) represent.
