Bonsai is a term that comes from the Japanese pronunciation of penjing, the Chinese equivalent of this art of cultivating trees or shrubs in small containers and limiting their size, growth, and shape through pruning of both the branches and foliage and the roots. The plants, usually trees or shrubs, are thus kept from reaching their normal size. This specimen is displayed against a subtle, dark red tapestry-like background in a simple black, ceramic pot.

I use my camera to explore the world around me and as a basis for creative expression.
