Description
The granite blocks on the far right of of this view mark the edge of the wide pier that gives this location in Rockport, Massachusetts, its name. The Sandy Bay harbor is one of four in Rockport, Massachusetts. Boat owners use the rowboats tied to the wooden wharf either alone or to get out to the larger fishing and pleasure vessels moored farther out. In the background you can see a few of the beautiful homes in this residential area.
Expect this monochrome image to have a blue-gray cast; if you are interested in classic black and white, let me know and I'll upload a version for you. I also have a more panoramic version, already uploaded (Granite Pier Perspective No 2), in which I cropped off the parked boats and hillside above the granite retaining wall.
