Description
From April to early July and sometimes into August, most of the beaches on Plum Island, Massachusetts, are off limits because this is the nesting and breeding season of the endangered piping plover. When we visited in early June, part of the beach at Sandy Point State Reservation on the southern end of the island, was open; however, on either side, large expanses of beach like this one were posted and off limits. The sky was gorgeous - and I found the patterns left in the sand at low tide just as beautiful.
