Meet Eli, an ox at Bent's Old Fort in southeastern Colorado. The oxen at the fort are Red Devon, a breed originally from England that came to Jamestown in 1623. All of them are steers, and they are trained to pull using verbal commands. The reconstructed fort was originally a trading fort built by brothers William and Charles Bent and as such dates to the early 1830's. It has been a National Historic Site and Landmark since 1960.
I use my camera to explore the world around me and as a basis for creative expression. Because I live in Nebraska, I have a fondness for rural scenes that will be evident as you explore my images, but I enjoy traveling and have many other interests as well. I hope you enjoy your visit.
