Artist's Description
This is the Satellite Motel, photo taken from the back in 2019. It is located on the northwest corner of 60th and L Streets in Omaha, Nebraska. Built in 1966 at the peak when the race to space was on everyone's mind, the building's octagonal shape building was intended to bring flying saucers or space ships to mind. In researching the building, I was disappointed to find that the top floor is, apparently, currently the owners' residence and not available for rental. However, the pie-shaped rooms on the other two floors, accessed both by interior corridors and exterior doors, offer a variety of possibilities. For years the exterior was painted a coral color; it is now the sedate, taupe brown you see here.
