Artist's Description
This tree stands alone and much taller than others around it on the eastern shore of Walnut Creek Lake in Sarpy County, Nebraska. The frozen, snow covered lake lies beyond. The sepia toned image is enhanced with a warm texture that seems to embrace both the tree and the gently falling snow.
The lake and surrounding recreational area were created in the late 1990's by damming up Walnut Creek, south of Papillion, as a flood control measure. The resulting reservoir and park offer many opportunities for family leisure activities including biking, walking and jogging on a path that goes all the way around the lake; fishing, camping, and picnicking.
