In winter, the leafless branches of this lone tree create a lacy silhouette against the sunset sky. On this evening, the sun just peeked through the clouds, sending diagonal crepuscular rays to the earth behind it. Also called God or glory rays, seeing this light display always makes me catch my breath. I have added an inspirational quotation from Kahil Gibran to a second version of this image which makes it particularly nice for a poster or card; you can see that version in my "Illustrated Texts" gallery.
