Description
Upper Tahquamenon Falls is the largest of a series of river falls in a state park in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. They are located between between Newberry and Paradise; the river and the park also bear the name Tahquamenon. Up river the river drains through cedar swamps; tannins leached from the tree roots account for the brown color in the water, and it’s easy to see why this cascade is sometimes called Root Beer Falls.
