Artist's Description

In this composition, Wood Islands Lighthouse #2, a curving dirt road which leads the visitor to the light on PEI also leads the viewer's eye into the frame. The structure, set slightly off center, is framed on the left by both the Canadian and Prince Edward Island provincial flags, unfurled in the breeze on a beautiful summer day. Built in 1874, the structure was manned until 1989; the keeper and his family lived in the small attached house. Today the light and dwelling are a museum.
