Description
In October of 1906, the Peter Iredale, a steel ship constructed in England, was blown off course and ran aground on the coast of Oregon. The entire crew was rescued, but three masts snapped from the impact and the boat was abandoned. Clatsop Beach, where its rusting hull can still be seen at low tide. The skeleton lies within Fort Stevens State Park at the mouth of the Columbia River and continues to be a popular tourist destination.
