Description
Cornfields like this stand for summer in the Midwest. Surrounded by simple barbed wire fences to keep cattle, wildlife, and curious folks like me who have no business there out, they line the highways and roads. Corn is critical to agriculture in this area. It is grown for ethanol and livestock feed, as well as for human consumption (sweet corn, popcorn, corn oil, corn syrup). There are years when mother nature does not favor the crop, but this was a good year and it was "high as an elephant's eye" by the 4th of July.
This is a narrower version of an image I have for sale with the title "Corralled Corn".
