Description
I placed two photos side by side to create this diptych. Both pictures are from the same building - it looked to be a contemporary apartment complex in which adjoining sections were painted contrasting colors. The textured, stucco walls of the details I used here are a deep, red-brown and a rich, golden ochre, both of which contrast with the blue sky reflected in the glass. The result is an architectural abstract that capitalizes on the geometry of the facade: white frames set off square openings which are paired and then doubled to create rows and columns, horizontal and vertical rectangles as it were. The more subtle lines of Venetian blinds, clearer in the panes on the right, repeat the lines. The structure and colors are typical of the central California area, specifically San Luis Obispo.
