An ordinary shovel and rake, currently not in use, stand propped against a fence in the corner of a backyard. The lines between the boards of the wooden fence are vertical; but from the right, morning shadows enter the scene on a diagonal while on the left dappled patterns of shade and light through leaves touch the shafts, blade and tines of the tools.
