Description
Here an old cowboy boot, too worn for service as footwear, is repurposed and placed upside down on a wooden fence post. It may have been placed there as decoration - or to mark a property. There were five or six old boots hanging on adjacent posts in this fence line. Boots have been hung this way in the Midwest for decades. Some say it's done to help protect the wood from rotting and extend the life of the post and that makes sense; others offer other explanations. No matter the reason, they always catch my eye.
