Description
In this urban rust abstract, I have placed two photos of rusty metal objects found in the downtown area of a small city, one above the other. The geometrical lines and shapes and the blue and orange complementary color palette combine to make this industrial design. The upper photo is a close-up of a rusty pole flanked by distant buildings, one smooth-sided and painted light gray, the other sided in blue, corrugated sheet metal.
The round shapes in the lower half are raised bumps in a lightly perforated metal plate, set into the sidewalk at a street corner to assist the visually impaired. What's interesting is the fact that simply rotating the piece 90 degrees makes the protrusions appear to be holes or notched out circles.
Though I seldom upload different versions of the same image, I've decided to do so with this one - and to keep them side by side in my collections so that you can check out this optical illusion if you care to. The titles will be almost identical with only the word "horizontal" or "vertical" to differentiate the two pieces.
