Description
In this urban rust design, I have placed two simple photos, both featuring rusty metal and taken in a small city, side by side. The lines, shapes, and complementary orange and blue colors work together to create an industrial abstract. On the right side is a close-up of a rusty pole; focus on the pole and a shallow depth of field blurs the background buildings on either side.
To most people, the round shapes in the left side appear to be holes - notched out circles - in a flat metal plate; they are in fact raised bumps or protrusions. Even more interesting is the fact that simply rotating the piece 90 degrees makes this quite apparent.
Though I seldom upload two versions of the same image, I've decided to do so with this one - and to keep them side by side in my collections so that you can check out this optical illusion if you care to. The titles will be almost identical with only the word "horizontal" or "vertical" to differentiate the two pieces.
