Description
This single Pacific sea nettle (Chrysaora fuscescens) jelly was swimming in the deep blue of a large aquarium tank. The light and color of the background make it and its fellow jellies as dramatically beautiful as they are naturally graceful.
Here are a few interesting facts I've learned about them. These creatures are not only beautifully colorful but endlessly fascinating. They are not actually fish and they do not have a respiratory system. Their skin is so thin oxygen can enter their bodies through diffusion. Their main defense mechanisms are their stings, of course, and their transparent body, which makes it easy for them to hide in their natural habitat - and makes them especially beautiful in aquarium settings such as this.
