Description
The location of Battery Point Light (also known as the Crescent City Lighthouse) on an islet connected to the mainland by a narrow isthmus makes it particularly picturesque. At this moment, three brown pelicans have just flown over on their way to join a flock nearer the shore. Built in the mid 1850's, the light was automated in 1953 but in 1955 the light was switched off. It was lit again in 1982 and continues to serve as a private navigational aid.
