Description
Cedar Waxwings (Bombycilla cedrorum) migrate in flocks, and when they find a cluster of berry-laden trees, they descend on them and feast. They hope from one branch to another, plucking and munching the fruit as they go. I found this one enjoying a small clump of juniper trees in a Midwestern urban backyard. These birds also like dogwood berries and wild cherries and, in addition to small fruits, they eat many insects. In fact, when the chicks hatch, the adults feed them mostly insects for the first few days.
