Description
Two female ruby-throated hummingbirds engage in a territorial dispute, fighting at this moment over a food source. These birds, Archilochus colubris, are not social; indeed, they are very solitary and even the male and female of a pair are only together briefly and for mating. These tiny birds mate migrage to eastern United States in the summer which is where they mate. They spend the colder months in Florida and further south - Mexico and Central America. The flowers seen faintly in the background are May night salvia, Salvia Divinorum, a type of sage.
