Description
This large, bronze, "nesting" eagle is set slightly back into an alcove on a pedestal above the low arched entrance to what is now called the Omaha Building, located at 1650 Farnam Street in downtown Omaha, Nebraska. Cast from a marble sculpture once thought to be the work of Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the sculptor is now thought to be his brother, Louis, who worked with Augustus in his New York Studio.
The building's architectural style is Italianate, derived from the Florentine Palazzo. It is built of granite and brick with terra cotta detailing. The building, now owned by and home to the law firm of Kutak Rock, has been extensively restored and remodeled. The Omaha landmark is on the National Register of Historic Places.
