Description
This is what is commonly called a dyeing dart frog, a Dendrobates tinctorius azureus. The “azureus” refers to the color morph of this particular specimen. The Dendrobates tinctorius can be quite varied in coloration; in fact, one morph is almost completely yellow! This South American frog is toxic, so if you are ever tempted to eat one, don’t. Their toxins cause pain and cramping and are usually enough to keep predators that eat one from making that mistake again.
