Description
This fire-bellied Toad (Bombina orientalis) spreads its legs and lifts its belly to display its showy red and black ventral area, what's called aposematic coloration that serves as a warning to predators. These frogs secrete a toxin and apparently taste terrible. They are popular pets, easier to raise than many other amphibians; properly taken care of, they can live up to 15 years in captivity.
